The Land of Samba, Joy, Football and Carnival

Sprawled across half of South America and sharing borders with no less than 10 different countries lies Brazil, the world's fifth largest country, both in size and population. A land that according to locals was “blessed by God” for its natural beauty.

Brazil is a country that proudly boasts over 7000km of picturesque coastline packed with powdery white-sand beaches. Two of the most famous are Copacabana and Ipanema in Río de Janeiro, one of the most beautiful and vibrant cities in the world. The Corcovado mountain and its grand statue of Christ the Redeemer is a must see for any visitor of this city which is also famous for its annual Carnival, where no less than two million people line the streets to celebrate into the early hours, to the sound of the Samba beats.

Salvador de Bahía is a city at the heart of Brazil´s African heritage. While walking through its historical centre the Pelourinho, admiring its colonial architecture, you can come across Capoeira rhythms and dancers, many times combined with unique religious festivities.  

Heading inland from the coast, Brazil offers breath-taking wild-life watching and the opportunity for adventure. The world renowned Amazon Rainforest and the Pantanal tropical wetlands host between them some of the greatest biodiversity on the planet; while the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park is a stunning desert landscape filled with white dunes and seasonal rainwater lagoons.  

The country´s identity is also marked by its traditional Feijoada, a delicious beans and pork stew on rice; a cool fresh Caipirinha cocktail ideal for hot summer evenings; Brazilian coffee known to coffee lovers around the world for its quality and distinct taste; and last but not least its national favourite sport, soccer.

Brazil is highly diverse in culture and ethnicity with a large mix of indigenous, Portuguese, and African-Brazilian people, who are young at heart, vibrant and full of the joys of life and who always extend a warm welcome to their worldwide guests.
